Activate Hawaiʻi Aid (AHA) is coordinating a cross-sector COVID-19 emergency response. It’s a concerted effort to bring people together and activate an island wide network of resilience hubs to help the most vulnerable get the support they need during this public health emergency. AHA has launched several programs focused on primarily on food security but has also launched a variety of programs to support community during this pandemic. Mindful Living actively supports the below AHA activities. Visit the AHA website for a full listing of their activities.
May 2020 - on-going: Mindful Living is proud to be the fiscal sponsor for #FeedThePeopleHI - Puna, a partnership with Chef Hui x Activate Hawai‘i Aid. From AHA: Chef Hui is a program of Pili Group LLC founded by husband and wife team Chef Mark “Gooch” Noguchi and Amanda Corby Noguchi. With food as a vessel, they cultivate experiences and educational opportunities that connect us to our heritage and provide a sense of place. #FeedThePeopleHI empowers families with meal kits that contain locally sourced ingredients and recipe cards by local chefs to make 1-2 big batch meals and a side dish.

April 2020 - on-going: Mindful Living's role is primarily focused on database management and reporting to support AHA's goal of island-wide distribution of "Keiki Care Packages" that include foods, “fun” stuff to occupy time, recipes for parents and kids to try, and mental health support resources. From AHA: Going to school means so much to our keiki. It’s a place for socialization, structure, and extracurricular activities. Once the Hawai‘i Department of Education announced extended school closures, a hui of parents part of the Activate Hawai‘i Aid collective banded together to figure out a way to support our keiki. We wanted to do something that served their physical and emotional well-being. Hence, Keiki Care Packs was born.

March 2019 - on-going: Mindful Living's role is primarily focused on database management and reporting to support AHA's efforts in partnership with Hawaii Rise Foundation, and Hawaii Food Bank, to provide food security during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mindful Living takes ownership in AHA's Community Pulse surveys, reporting to implement distribution and delivery operations, and volunteer information. Currently, this effort results in over 3,300 meals and 1300+ keiki care packages being consistently provided to approximately 1300+ households with the help of over 100 volunteers all over the Big Island.
